Soon the company starts to grow and the duo realizes that they are more concerned with management than with making ice cream. Becoming a manager is the last thing they want. What they do want is to have fun, earn a living and improve the world. 10 years after starting their ice cream parlor in Burlington, they come up with their three-part mission: make the best ice cream, realize financial growth and improve the world.
Our product mission drives us to make the most delicious ice cream!
Our economic mission obliges us to lead our company for sustainable financial growth.
Our social mission obliges us to use our company innovatively to make the world a better place.
Ben & Jerry's social purpose is social justice . Social justice is defined broadly by the company, from climate to human rights. B efore this purpose was shared, however, they had already started to flesh it out:

2. Policy
Policy is the actual change you want to achieve. Marketers should not come up with this themselves from behind their desks, but should talk to those who are working on it every day. Ask these people what they need, what they want to work on in the coming period and how you as a company can help with this. Ben & Jerry's focuses entirely on existing social movements to fulfill their social goal. Curley: "We ask all these movements what they need from us. How can we support your movement? What do you need to grow? That's how we create change."
One of their focal points is refugee work . Together with national and international organizations such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, Ben & Jerry's is committed to helping refugees who, after fleeing their home country, are still not safe. In the coming months, a bill will be discussed in Brussels that concerns the future of this group of refugees, including many children and single women. Ben & Jerry's is campaigning and calling on people to sign the petition of Vluchtelingenwerk Nederland . In this way, they are trying to influence the outcome of the bill.
