What Bing will have to do to get people to stop 'googling'

Only two months after going online, search engine marketing and online content experts are already detecting problems that could arise around the search engine. One of the controversial aspects, for example, is the preview option.

The problem: Bing's preview of the pages it includes in its results lists contains too much content, meaning that the user barely needs to visit the page to consume its content; the preview even amazon data allows users to watch videos on the page. For users, this can be very convenient because it saves them time when browsing. But for content owners, this can create a serious copyright conflict.

Whereas search engines could previously claim to drive traffic to content pages, Microsoft's search engine acts in a very different way, keeping users on their pages. And this, according to search engine optimization expert Philipp von Stülpnagel of the specialist company Sumo, is not in the best interest of content owners who "if they are lucky, may gain a bit of brand presence."

The current version of the Bing search engine is a test version, but if it continues like this and its audience becomes significant, content owners will start tearing their hair out. For the moment, Google continues to dominate the market, although Bing's market share is growing considerably every month. But in the world and in Europe, Google continues to dominate.

Bing will have to contend with the enormous power of the Google brand, which Millward Brown says is the most powerful brand and is worth $100 billion. Microsoft has launched a $100 million campaign in the United States. But it will have to overcome people talking about 'googling' something on the Internet.
