Socio-health care covers the set of care (both social and health-related) intended to provide comprehensive care and meet the needs of both the elderly and the disabled during the care period.

Those of you who are not involved in any profession related to social and health care may think that dependent people are only elderly people, but this is not entirely correct.

There are different degrees of dependency, and within these degrees there are people with physical and mental disabilities. They can even include those who have suffered an accident and are immobilized.

If you work in the Social and Health Care sector (caregiver, geriatric care worker or similar; personal assistant and/or home help assistant), you will know that since 1 January 2016 it is iceland phone data mandatory to obtain the Professional Certificate of Social and Health Care for Dependent Persons at Home in order to carry out your work within the European Union (provided that you do not have official training from the Ministry of Education, a mid-level vocational training qualification or a technical qualification in auxiliary nursing care).

This Professional Certificate is included in Royal Decree 1379/2008, of August 1 .

What is essential in home care services?
The essential thing is to offer personal and individualized help , providing certain services to those people who need help because they lack personal autonomy (ability to carry out basic activities of daily living), or because they are going through a personal or family crisis, all of this, in the home of the dependent person.

This certificate prepares you to work in one of the sectors that is constantly growing. You will acquire the necessary skills to help people with special physical, mental and social health needs at home in the social-health field, applying the most appropriate strategies and procedures to maintain and improve their personal autonomy and their relationships with their environment.
