meeting, one conversation is enough for the door to your dream job to open up to you. How to find the key that will open it? Tomek Kaczmarek, who recruited Krzysiek to Carlsberg Polska, told us what to do to be remembered by the employer!
Talent Days: Hi Tomek! What was it about Krzysiek that caught your attention so quickly? What was your first meeting like?
Tomek: Let's start with the fact that it was Krzysiek who found us on his own. How did it all look? He hesitantly approached our stand at Talent Days, where there was a large crowd and many candidates were standing. He asked if we had any job offers in the IT area. As fate would have it, at that time I was recruiting for the position of IT Support Specialist. I remember that Krzysiek was worried whether we were taking into account people who had not yet graduated and did not necessarily have a lot of experience. Competencies and skills are incredibly important to us. What candidates graduated from or how much experience they have is a secondary issue for us. In candidates, we look primarily for ambition, a desire to strive for continuous development and improvement, which I noticed in Krzysiek.
Talent Days: So we already know that at Carlsberg, determination and specific skills are most important. If someone meets these requirements and wants to work for you, what should they do to make their dreams come true?
Tomek: First of all, you can't be afraid to apply. As I mentioned, our main point is ambition and the desire for continuous development. You have to be able to work conceptually, operate on many fronts, combine skills from different areas. Are you looking for a job? Don't be afraid of contacting a potential employer, because the moment of submitting an application is the first stage of a journey. A journey that, like in Krzysiek's case, may end with joining the company and starting to develop in it.
Talent Days: Inspiring words! You are metaphorically on a long, collaborative journey together. Going into detail – for what tasks and positions do you most often recruit young people?
Tomek: In Poland, we operate in 4 different cities. Our command center is located in Warsaw. We also have three breweries: Browar Bosman in Szczecin, Browar Okocim in Brzesko and Browar Kasztelan in Sierpc. If we talk about the headquarters in Warsaw, these are usually marketing, HR or sales departments. We often look for people starting their professional careers in more technical areas for the breweries.
Krzysiek is a perfect example of the fact that people starting out on the job market can find a good place to develop in our organization. For someone who values development, there will always be a place at Carlsberg!
Talent Days: Is there room for development, and what is everyday work like in your company?
Tomek: The atmosphere in our organization is based on mutual understanding and appreciation, which is very important in cooperation. We are extremely proud of our products, of working in an organization where products are so recognizable.
Talent Days: We already know Krzysiek's opinion on this topic, but we are still curious: what are your impressions after participating in the job fair – from a recruiter's perspective?
Tomek: It was the first meeting of Carlsberg Polska and Talent Days. As it turns out, those first crushes are the best. It was very professional, we felt the support of the organization. At the fair, you can see these emotions, feel this vibe, which has a positive impact on employers and candidates.
Talent Days: Thanks, a good atmosphere and content are our top priorities! We are glad that you can see it. What do you think about young talents taking part in job fairs?
Tomek: Based on my experience, I can say that it has evolved over the years. Currently, the fairs are attended by a much larger number of conscious candidates who are aware of what they came for. This maturity and willingness to fight for themselves is visible at first glance. We conducted many very interesting conversations at Talent Days. Some of them ended with us not being able to offer the candidate a job in their field at that moment, but we stay in touch and this contact is on both sides. Creating these relationships is incredibly important and we succeed in doing so.
Talent Days: Tomek, thanks for presenting the job fair from a “recruiter” perspective. This is valuable information for future Talent Days participants, who will be more aware of what our employers care about most!
