Through Android Settings

Post by roseline371274 »

Go to Settings > Apps > Telegram > Mobile data & Wi-Fi.

Toggle “Background data” off.

Optionally, enable “Data Saver” mode globally in Android to reduce background data for all apps.

4. Disable Media Auto-Play in Chats
Some videos or GIFs may auto-play in chats. Disabling auto-play saves telegram data data:

Go to Settings > Data and Storage > Autoplay Media.

Turn off auto-play for GIFs and videos under Mobile Data.

5. Clear Telegram Cache
Telegram stores media on your device to make reloading faster, but this can use storage and prompt re-downloads if space runs out. Clear the cache periodically:

Go to Settings > Data and Storage > Storage Usage.

Tap Clear Cache.

You can choose to delete photos, videos, voice messages, or documents individually.

This won’t delete messages or files from the cloud—they remain available for future access.

Additional Tips to Save Data
Use Telegram X (If Available)
Telegram X is a faster and more data-efficient version of Telegram for Android. It’s lighter, quicker, and sometimes better at managing data usage.

Prefer Wi-Fi for Media Downloads
Whenever possible, wait until you’re on Wi-Fi to download large files or stream content from channels.

Use Text-Based Bots
Bots that deliver text information (news, weather, cryptocurrency updates) use significantly less data than bots that deliver images or videos.
