The graph shows that the largest decline in foreign trade occurred in 2009, the year of the greatest recession after the economic crisis. Since 2010, there has been a constant increase in international trade turnover both in the CU countries and in other countries of the world.

If we consider the structure of all foreign trade of Kazakhstan (with all countries), the influence of the CU becomes especially noticeable. Thus, in the total export from Kazakhstan, the share of export to the CU countries has tended to decrease since 2008 (for example, in 2007, export to Russia and Belarus accounted for about 10% of the total export from Kazakhstan, and in 2011, only 8.7%). This indicates that with the beginning of the CU operation, our trade policy towards Russia and Belarus has not undergone any fundamental changes: we exported about 9% of our export there before the creation of the CU, and we continue to do so after. The growth of export volumes from Kazakhstan to the countries of the Customs Union is only partially explained by the reasons for the creation of the CU, while the main reasons, in my opinion, are the same mechanisms that ensured the growth of all Kazakhstani exports (revival of the world economy, favorable conditions on the raw materials markets).
