Origin of Digital Marketing

Post by sakib40 »

The first version of the internet reached the general public in the 1990s. What we now call Web 1.0 was different from the one we use in 2023. For example, users were limited to simple searches, as they didn't have the option to interact.

You can compare this version to a reference library, but with little or no opportunity for you to provide feedback. Previously, users were passive consumers of content.

In this context, digital marketing emerged very similar to its parent, traditional marketing based on unilateral (company-to-consumer) communication.

In 1993, internet users began to be able to interact with advertisers online. For example, they could click on an ad. However, it wasn't until the 2000s that digital marketing took its current form.

Digital Marketing vs. Traditional Marketing
In the Web 2.0 era, communication evolved. Technology gcash database made it possible for anyone to create and publish content on the Internet.

Social media enabled unprecedented interaction between people and online content. In this context, digital marketing emerged as a new way to reach consumers .

Web 2.0 opened the door to direct interaction between businesses and audiences. Traditional marketing, focused on delivering one-way messages through television, radio, or print media, was at a disadvantage compared to the possibilities offered by digital media.

It's no coincidence that traditional media outlets have entered the digital world; it's part of their strategy to remain a part of the lives of millions of consumers.
