How CDN Improves Network Performance

Post by Rina7RS »

CDNs are not a replacement for web hosting. Instead, they help web hosts cache content so that the host can load assets with less bandwidth.

How does a CDN work?
A CDN can read your IP address and determine your location on the network. When a user loads a web page, the nearest CDN sends a cached version of the page's content to the user's web browser.

Loading cached versions of web pages can reduce page loading portugal mobile database speed and increase user experience. It is common for webmasters to use multiple CDNs in different regions to serve users around the world.

The following diagram illustrates a common problem solved by using a CDN. An Asian user is trying to access data hosted on a server in the United States. Due to his location, it takes 3 seconds for the data to reach him - which is a very long time on the Internet.

When using cache servers in Europe, users in Asia can access content in less than 1 second. This not only speeds up download times and user experience, but also frees network lines from unnecessary traffic, making them faster and more efficient.

What is a CDN provider?
A CDN provider is a company that owns data centers around the world. The provider stores cached versions of your content in these data servers and then loads the content for users upon request.
