A Panasonic robot cat that suffers from flatulence

Post by zakiyatasnim »

For those who are not ready for the responsibility that necessarily falls on cat and dog owners, Panasonic has presented an excellent alternative. A robotic pet that draws attention to itself in a very unusual way, namely with the help of flatulence attacks.

The Nicobo robot cannot move around the apartment on its own; it is equipped with a camera for facial recognition, microphones for voice recognition, touch sensors for recognizing hugs, and a light sensor so that the robot can sleep in bright sunlight.

Nicobo can turn in different directions and change the direction of his gaze. If you stroke the robot, it will start wagging its tail. But if it is in a bad mood, it will fart to look like real cats. You can also talk to it, but at first it will only know a few words, gradually the language will develop to the level of a child. It will not be possible to have a meaningful conversation with the robot, but its mumbling "will help to strengthen the feeling that it is really attentive and listening to you."

The robot isn't available for purchase yet — Panasonic introduced it through crowdfunding, promising to release 320 models, which have already sold out. Owners will also have to pay $10 per month for software updates.

Panasonic developed the robot in collaboration with Michio Okada, a professor at Texas Tech University who has been working for several years on companion robots that help cope with loneliness.
