Mathematical methods
This includes computational methods for pricing, determining the advertising budget, as well as the choice of location and its justification, assessment of product competitiveness, ABC analysis of the product range for specific products that meet the needs of the audience in various market segments.
The last type of mathematical analysis can be used, for example, to classify a company's resources by their importance. The basis of the method is the Pareto principle: 80 percent of the turnover is created by 20 percent of all goods sold and services rendered. From the point of view of ABC analysis, this principle can be formulated as follows: managing 20 percent of all positions allows you to control 80 percent of the company's resources (goods, services, raw materials).
In this case, goods are divided into categories as follows:
Category A: 20% of the most valuable lawyer email list products and services, accounting for 80% of all sales.
Category B: 30% of goods and services, accounting for 15% of sales.
Category C: 50% of the least valuable products, accounting for 5% of sales.
ABC analysis is often used in logistics and freight transportation. It is used to track the volumes of shipped goods from a certain group, determine the frequency of requests for these products, and segment customers by the number and volume of paid orders.
The advantages of this method are: universality of application, simplicity and transparency of use, possibility of automation. Among the disadvantages of the method, it is necessary to note the impossibility of processing two or more variables or objects, division of indicators solely by quantity without taking into account quality and, as a consequence, a generalized result for each category.
These methods are based on existing experience, imagination and intuition. They measure phenomena that are not amenable to other methods of measurement. These include catastrophe theory, the method of collective idea generation and the Delphi method.
The latter method is based on the idea of the possibility of obtaining a collective opinion based on individual expert assessments of the current market situation. To do this, the collected assessments must be correctly generalized.
The use of the Delphi method has a number of undeniable advantages: the ability to develop an independent opinion from each respondent within the group, the objectivity of studying the pressing problem without unnecessary ill-considered actions. On the other hand, the implementation of activities within the framework of the method requires a lot of time, and the results obtained may be too subjective.
