Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, IT and Communications Anton Gorelkin published a letter in his Telegram channel with an appeal to the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Maxim Shaskolsky: "The media are reporting that in 2025, 95% of Russian telecom companies providing mobile communications, home Internet, pay TV and telephony services are planning to raise tariffs. There is reason to believe that this is part of a media campaign to prepare public opinion for an increase in the relevant tariffs by 10-15%. In this regard, I ask the FAS of Russia to initiate an investigation of this information, assess the validity of increasing tariffs for mobile communications, home Internet, pay TV and t dominican republic whatsapp resourceelephony services, and also to provide an opinion on whether media activity on this topic is the result of concerted actions by market participants and whether there are signs of a cartel agreement in this situation."
A representative of the FAS press service told a ComNews correspondent that the appeal of State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin to the antimonopoly agency has not yet been received: "Upon receipt, it will be reviewed in the established order. The FAS of Russia has not received information about the planned increase in tariffs for communication services. In the event of unjustified price increases for communication services, the agency will take antimonopoly response measures."
Representatives of the press service of PJSC MegaFon, PJSC VimpelCom (Beeline), LLC T2-Mobile (T2), JSC ER-Telecom Holding did not answer questions from a ComNews correspondent, while representatives of the press service of PJSC Rostelecom and PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) refrained from commenting.
Deputy General Director for Strategic Projects at Obit LLC, Mikhail Telegin, explains that the main reason for raising tariffs is the increase in operator expenses: "This concept includes the purchase of equipment, logistics, compliance with regulatory requirements for infrastructure, and the wage fund."
Dmitry Petrov, CEO of Comfortel LLC, told a ComNews correspondent that the operator plans to raise prices in 2025: "We do this annually, because inflation in our country occurs annually and constantly. This is a normal economic effect. Judging by the key rate, inflation is growing significantly more than the percentage by which operators plan to raise prices, so I don't see anything seditious or terrible in this."
A representative of the press service of Sberbank-Telecom LLC (SberMobile) told a ComNews correspondent that the operator is trying to maintain prices for users, as well as provide the maximum variety of products and the best service: "Along with our tariffs, we offer the user the maximum benefit with the capabilities of the Sber ecosystem. Among them is payment for mobile communications with "Thank you" bonuses."
Anton Gorelkin understands the industry’s desire to raise prices, noting that by law such decisions must be economically
