Humberto Tan's talk show is more popular than Pauw & Witteman, especially among female viewers. The new RTL late night show also has a more positive sentiment than the VARA talk show. Pauw & Witteman, on the other hand, is more popular on Twitter: it is talked about 2.5 times as much as Tan's show. This is evident from a data study based on almost 91,000 tweets.

Talk show battle
It's the week of the big retrospective. We'd like to participate in a social data analysis of the late night talk shows of VARA and RTL 4, who are facing each other for the first time this season. Much has already been said and written about the talk show battle, often from the gut feeling of showbiz experts. Not on the basis of social media, while that is precisely where most TV programs are talked about and shared.
We monitored all Dutch-language tweets about both programs for a month and a half (from November 7 to December 23). As Humberto's co-host Luuk Ikink already reported, the shows are taking a winter break. Pauw & Witteman even until January 27. We thought it was a good time to look back at the competition in 2013.
