In 2018, an SEO expert from China wrote a blog post explaining why it is useless to use meta keywords when optimizing your site for Baidu.

He cites a forum post from a Baidu engineer who said the search engine has not used the meta keyword tag since 2012.

Naver is South Korea's second largest search engine after Google.

While Naver offers some information on what meta tags to include in your pages, the documentation does not specifically mention meta keywords tags.

It is therefore reasonable to assume that meta tags have no significant significance for Naver.

Using Meta Keywords for Competitive Research
Some suggest using meta keywords for competitive research.

They advise looking at meta keywords on competitors' sites to determine what keywords they are trying to optimize for.

But we believe this is rarely the right approach.

Here's why:

Most sites don't use meta keywords tags these days, so most of the time you won't find any keywords there.
Some sites even include irrelevant keywords in their meta tag fields.
A better approach to competitor research is to use a professional competitive research tool.


Simply enter your competitor's site or a specific page into the tool and click Search .

Then go to the “Top Keywords” report and japan phone data click on “ Show all # keywords ”.

Use Other Tags Instead
The meta keyword tag is not important from a search engine ranking perspective.

So it is better to focus on other tags. Like the title and meta description tags (which are known to have direct or indirect value for SEO).
