CSo at the same time that OpenAI announced SearchGPT , its AI-powered search engine, Microsoft showed the first images of Bing Generative Search , a generative search experience that is being implemented "in a small percentage of queries" and with which the search engine wants to compete in the new context of generative searches , in which Google has been operating for months (with difficulties) through its AI Overviews .

Competing with AI Overviews
In its statement, Microsoft explains that Bing's generative search combines the power of generative AI and language models with the search results page. This approach creates dynamic, personalized responses to uae number data user queries, offering detailed information and links to sources for deeper exploration.

Integrating search results and language models
This new experience combines traditional Bing search results with the power of LLMs and small language models (SLMs). It understands the search query, sifts through millions of data sources, and generates results in a new AI-powered format that more effectively matches the user’s search intent.

Microsoft has refined its methods for optimizing accuracy on Bing, applying those insights as the use of LLMs in search evolves. According to the company, initial data indicates that this experience maintains the number of clicks to websites, which is critical for publishers. The generative search experience is designed with this in mind, including retaining traditional search results and increasing the number of clickable links, such as referrals, in the results.

For example, when searching for “What is a spaghetti western?” Bing provides an AI-generated experience detailing the film subgenre, its history, notable examples, and more. The information is intended to be easy to read and understand, with links and sources that allow you to dig deeper into the topic.
