Simple rules that everyone should remember
In the business environment, the term "feedback" refers to feedback on how well an employee performs his or her duties and what he or she can improve. In this article, we will explain how "correct" feedback works, how to give and receive it, and how to make feedback an important tool for your professional and personal growth.
First of all, let us note that feedback is not criticism or evaluation. Good feedback is simply information about how the employee's actions look from the point of view of the manager (or colleague) and what impact the employee's actions have on the work process, on the common cause and personally on the one who gives the feedback. Ideal feedback also contains information about what more productive and effective action looks like.
How to give feedback?
You can already practice this skill, for example, when working in a team on a student project. Try to speak about a specific situation, not generalize. If you don’t like something, criticize the solution, not the person. And be sure to describe the desired behavior model. For example, like this:
"The data on slides three and five is hard to read. I think a armenia phone number lead graph would better illustrate our point instead of a table."
"When you send messages in the chat in caps, it seems to me that you are yelling at me. I start to get nervous and have trouble understanding the meaning of the message. I suggest not using caps in the work chat"
Positive feedback is no less important than critical remarks. Therefore, if you want to praise a colleague or thank him, do not just say "How cool!", but name a specific thing that you liked or for which you feel grateful:
"I really liked the visualization you came up with."
"Thanks for the detailed plan, it became much clearer what we are doing at this stage"
Don't put off your reaction "for later". If you are unhappy with something, then the accumulated irritation can break through at the most inopportune time and interfere with productive joint work. If you want to praise a person, then do it right away, any person likes it when colleagues recognize their contribution to the common cause.
So, the main characteristics of quality feedback are specificity, non-judgmentalism and timeliness.
