You can also track Telegram's data usage through Android’s built-in settings:

Open Settings on your Android device.

Go to Network & Internet > Data usage > App data usage.

Select Telegram to see mobile data usage statistics.

This gives a system-level view of how much data Telegram is consuming, which can telegram data help verify app-specific usage reports.

How to Reduce Telegram Data Usage on Android
If you're on a limited data plan, consider the following steps to reduce Telegram’s consumption.

1. Turn Off Auto-Download for Media
By default, Telegram automatically downloads media in chats and groups. You can control this:

Open Telegram and go to Settings > Data and Storage > Automatic Media Download.

Configure settings for:

Mobile Data

Wi-Fi

Roaming

Disable auto-download for:

Photos

Videos

Files

Voice messages (if desired)

This prevents Telegram from downloading media without your permission.

2. Use “Low Data Mode” for Calls
Voice and video calls consume significant data. Telegram allows you to reduce call data usage:

Go to Settings > Data and Storage > Use Less Data for Calls.

Choose Low, Medium, or High data-saving options.

Setting this to “Low” can save up to 40% of the data used during calls.

3. Limit Background Data Usage
Telegram may consume data in the background for syncing messages and notifications. You can limit this:
