Deleting Data from Telegram's Cloud (Affects All Devices and Server Storage)
These actions aim to remove data from Telegram's servers, thus affecting all devices where you are logged in and potentially other chat participants.
This is the primary way to remove specific messages from Telegram's cloud storage.
How it works: For messages you send, you can typically delete them "for everyone" within a certain timeframe (initially 48 hours, but often extended indefinitely for private chats by Telegram, allowing you to delete your own messages regardless of age). As a group administrator, you can also delete messages sent by others "for everyone."
Steps:
Long-press on the message you sent.
Tap Delete.
Check the box or confirm "Also delete for [contact's name]" or "Delete for telegram data everyone."
Result: The message is permanently removed from the chat history for all participants and from Telegram's servers.
2.2 Leaving or Deleting Groups and Channels
Leaving a Group/Channel:
Go into the group/channel.
Tap on its name/title at the top.
Scroll down and tap Leave Group or Leave Channel.
Result: You are removed from the group/channel, and it disappears from your chat list. The history remains for other members.
Deleting a Group/Channel (if you are the creator):
Go into the group/channel you created.
Tap on its name/title at the top.
Tap Edit (pencil icon).
Scroll down and tap Delete Group or Delete Channel.
You will be given an option to "Delete group for all members." Select this if you want to permanently remove the group/channel and its entire history from everyone's Telegram.
Result: If confirmed, the entire group/channel and all its history are permanently deleted from Telegram's servers for all participants. This is irreversible.
