Deleting Individual Messages/Media in a Chat:
Open the chat.
Long-press on a message or media file.
Tap Delete.
You'll often have two options: "Delete for me" (removes it only from your view on this device) or "Delete for everyone" (if it's your message and within the allowed timeframe, or if you're an admin, it removes it from the cloud for all participants). Choose "Delete for me" for local deletion.
Clearing Entire Chat History for a Specific Chat:
Open the chat you want to clear.
Tap on the contact's name or group/channel title at the top.
Scroll down and tap Clear History.
Result: The entire chat history and associated media are telegram data removed from your device's local storage for that specific chat. The data remains in the cloud for others in the chat unless you chose "Delete for everyone" (if available).
1.4 Offloading or Uninstalling the Telegram App
This is a more drastic local deletion.

Offloading App (iOS only, retains Documents & Data):
Go to iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
Find and tap on Telegram.
Tap Offload App.
Result: The app itself is removed, freeing up its installation space, but its "Documents & Data" (including cached chat history and downloaded media) remains. When you reinstall the app, your data quickly reappears.
Uninstalling/Deleting App (Android/iOS):
On Android: Long-press the Telegram icon on your home screen or app drawer, then drag it to "Uninstall" or tap the "i" info icon and choose "Uninstall."
On iOS: Long-press the Telegram icon until it jiggles, then tap the "X" or "-" icon and choose "Delete App." Alternatively, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, find Telegram, and tap Delete App.
Result: The Telegram app and all its associated local data (cache, downloaded media, local chat history) are completely removed from your device. When you reinstall and log in again, your chat history will sync from the cloud, but media will need to be re-downloaded.
