Select the items you want to delete.

Tap the delete (trash) icon.

To remove your data from groups and channels:

Open the group/channel.

Tap the three dots (⋮).

Select Leave Group or Leave Channel.

Confirm the action.

This removes your membership and, in some cases, your telegram data message history from the chat (depending on the group's privacy settings).

5. Disable Telegram Account Temporarily (Optional)
Telegram doesn't support account deactivation per se, but you can stop using it temporarily. Log out of your account or uninstall the app. Telegram stores your data until you return or choose to delete your account completely.

6. Delete Your Telegram Account Permanently
This is the most complete way to delete all your Telegram data. Be aware: this step is irreversible.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Go to the Telegram Deactivation Page:


Enter your phone number in international format (e.g., +1 1234567890).

Telegram will send you a confirmation code in the Telegram app (not via SMS).

Enter the code on the website.

Click Delete Account.

You'll be asked for a reason (optional). Enter your reason or skip.

Click Delete My Account again to confirm.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account:
All your messages, groups, and contacts will be deleted.

Your profile will be removed.

You will be removed from all groups and channels.

Messages you sent in others' groups may still be visible (as they are stored on Telegram’s servers), but will no longer be associated with your account.

You cannot recover the account once deleted. If you sign up again, it will be a fresh account with no history.

7. Set Auto-Delete Account (for the Future)
If you're planning ahead, Telegram lets you set your account to auto-delete after a period of inactivity.

To Set This:
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.

Scroll down to If Away For....

Choose from 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year.

If you do not log in during that period, Telegram will automatically delete your account and all associated data.

Final Tips for Deleting Telegram Data
Back Up Important Data: Once you delete, it’s gone. Use Telegram’s export feature (via desktop) to save chats or files before deletion.
