Local Database: This includes your chat history (text messages), contact list, user settings, and other app-specific configurations. While generally much smaller than the media cache, it's essential for the app's functionality and for displaying your conversations instantly.

Other Files: This category can include various temporary files, logs, or less significant data generated by the app during its operation.

Managing Telegram Storage within the App (Android)
Telegram provides excellent built-in tools to manage its local data, giving telegram data users control over what stays and what goes. This is the recommended approach for most users.

To access these settings:

Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top-left corner.

Select "Settings".

Tap on "Data and Storage".

Tap on "Storage Usage".

Within the "Storage Usage" section, you'll find several critical options:

a. Clear Telegram Cache
This is your primary tool for reclaiming space. You'll see a prominent "Clear Telegram Cache" button, often showing the amount of space it will free up.

How it works: Tapping this button will prompt you to select which types of cached media (photos, videos, documents, music, GIFs, voice & video messages) you want to clear. You can select all or deselect specific types.

Impact: Clearing the cache removes only the temporary copies of media files from your device. Your chats, messages, and contacts remain untouched. Media can be re-downloaded from the cloud if you scroll back to it. This is a safe and highly effective way to free up significant space.

b. Keep Media (Automatic Cache Management)
This feature is crucial for proactive storage management. Below the "Clear Telegram Cache" option, you'll find "Keep Media."

Functionality: This setting determines how long Telegram will keep media files in your device's cache. The default might be "Forever," which means the cache will continuously grow.
