A method to “manufacture” time

Post by jrineakter »

Hello dear friends and thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me for this new episode of Walk with Johan. It is always a pleasure to spend these moments with you, to walk while sharing ideas, opinions, views on life in general, personal development in particular, in order to help you improve your French while improving your life. This is the great mission of this podcast.

Before we get to the content, a quick reminder. You can join the waiting list for the Authentic French Academy. Registration opens on the 6th, so Sunday, October 6th, and it will be a pleasure to meet you there. They are closed 90% of the year. So, you can already follow the first link in the description. It's quite easy, it's www.francaisauthentique.com/academie . And you discover the content, you join the waiting list. And I take this opportunity to say a big hello to all the members of the academy who are listening to this podcast.

So, today, we're going to talk about "making time." What does "making time" mean? It's a bit of a weird concept. In fact, it's a literal translation of a book that I read a while ago and that I reread in the last few days, called Make time , by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky. Making time, ultimately. I don't know if they translated this book into French, but hey... I imagine that if they translate it, it will be "making time."

I liked the idea. First of all, I like the image, I say: "Wow, we can make time". Obviously, that's not true, obviously, we're all going to keep our 24 hours a day. Besides, time, I often say, is one italy whatsapp number data of the most egalitarian resources that exist. As much as we often talk about inequalities in terms of financial means, etc., well time, for once, is very egalitarian. Whether you're President of the Republic or a simple citizen like me, you have 24 hours a day. So, of course, we can cheat a little and buy the time of others to serve us, but at the end of the day, we all have the same 24 hours. And that's rather egalitarian as a resource.

In this book, therefore, which proposes to you to manufacture time, we propose to you or we propose a model in four blocks. There are four parts to this model.

The first part, I'm going to explain it to you briefly, so that you have a rough idea, and then we'll try to go a little deeper into each of these parts, and I'll tell you how I apply it. The first part of this model is to define a priority. They call it "highlight". So, it's even more than a priority. It's basically...

There's a train going by. I hope we won't hear it too much, but it doesn't matter. The railway track isn't very far from the path behind me, so we might still hear the train. But it doesn't matter, these are the hazards of Walk with Johan. If you were with me walking on these paths, you would hear the train.

So, here's what they call "a highlight," which is a... I don't even know how you would translate highlight into French. It might be like a... Basically, it's the peak of the day, the most important thing of the day. So, the idea is to define one per day, a peak of the day, the most important thing.

Then it's about focusing like a laser on it. That's the second block, we define, we focus.

And then the third is to reflect, to take stock. They call it "reflect", so we reflect.

Wait, I have a bug on my… OK, I took the bug off my knee. Lots of interruptions, huh: trains, bugs, you can hear the church too.

So we reflect on that. And then we have an arrow that goes from reflection to definitions of the new priority. So we define the peak of our day, the pinnacle, the positive aspect of our day, we focus on that, and then we reflect, and we redefine the peak of the next day.

And there is a fourth block, which is an energy block, so, make sure you have energy. And this one, it has an arrow, of course, towards focus. So, you basically have in a row, you have the three blocks with an arrow, define the peak of the day, focus on it, reflect. The third block "reflect", it has an arrow towards "define the peak of the day" and there is a fourth block below, which is energize, make sure you have energy and which, it, is linked to focus. So, it is a concept finally, 'end, or concepts.
