New generation of employees sets new demands

Post by Bappy11 »

We see mobile growing, more and more data becoming available that needs to be processed by companies (big data) and the use of social media and cloud services continues to grow. These trends come together in a 'perfect storm', but what exactly does that mean?

The above trends are developing rapidly, which is why there were again some surprising insights this year during Perfect Storm Europe on 5 and 6 November. In this article we list them.

Many companies still believe that they can dictate which mobile phones are supported in their company. However, the newest generation, Generation Y , assumes that they can choose whether to bring an Apple, Android or Windows phone. This has all sorts of consequences, such as the deletion of sensitive data if a phone is lost or an employee leaves the company. In countries such as Germany, cambodia telegram data deleting data without consultation is even prohibited. Mobile device management is becoming a major challenge for companies due to this 'bring your own device (BYOD)' trend. “BYOD is the death knell for organizations' standards policies ,” reported Philippe Winthrop . “It's adapt or die for organizations.”

An underlying cause of BYOD is what is called the consumerization of IT : products like the iPad are ahead of traditional business IT products in terms of user-friendliness and possibilities. The business market – and especially IT departments – will therefore follow consumer trends instead of leading them, as was the case a few years ago. For the IT department and the CIO, this will mean a change.
