Choosing the right path through

Post by rakhirhif8963 »

SD-WAN acts as a “gateway” between on-premises resources and geographically distributed data, he said. Since multiple cloud platforms offer different ways to connect data, SD-WAN provides a network overlay on top of public clouds to connect geographically distributed data.

SD-WAN depends on performance parameters such as latency, jitter, and server response time. This requires SD-WAN to understand network and application performance to route IIoT traffic along the optimal path, Upadhyaya says.

IIoT devices communicate with an application in the cloud, but getting to the cloud may require multiple paths, including multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), broadband, or 5G. Some products use machine learning to help network operators determine the best path, Upadhyaya said.

Here are some key reasons why SD-WAN can be useful for IIoT.

Centralized management
SD-WAN offers centralized management that provides argentina mobile database visibility into IIoT sensors and devices. This visibility allows organizations to reduce the risk of disruptions, says Palo Alto Networks.

Network operators use SD-WAN to manage the performance of IIoT sensors to ensure their normal operation. A centralized control plane also improves the interoperability of network equipment and IIoT devices.

“Because SD-WAN provides centralized control and correlation of network information, administrators no longer need to manually evaluate data from multiple sources to understand how on-premises devices and applications are performing,” said Evin Safdia, director of product marketing, Cato Networks.

“SD-WAN is an application-centric networking solution that makes policy decisions based on application performance criteria,” said Jonathan Forest, vice president analyst at Gartner. “It can provide visibility into network and application performance for IIoT devices and endpoints.”

Visibility is essential for network operators monitoring remote IIoT assets such as an oil rig, water tower or warehouse.
