Generate news instead of reporting

Post by asimd23 »

You don't have to like someone to say they have talent in a certain field. Ironically, it is usually the people who are gifted with special talents who polarize and who many people therefore don't want to say a single good word about. "Weltwoche" publisher Roger Köppel is one of them. Regardless of his product and his political work, one can say usa rcs data that Köppel has recognized a very important element of modern media creation and is implementing it. It means that you can generate news yourself instead of just reporting other people's news.

He has just managed to do this again by inviting former Trump confidant Steve Bannon to Zurich. Cheers on one side, howls of horror on the other: the reactions to the announcement were as predictable as speeches on August 1st. Of course, the event serves Köppel's opponents to cement their image of the right-wing publisher. Which is not entirely fair, because the SVP National Council would probably invite Stalin for the sake of publicity if he were still alive.

Regardless of the personnel setting, it can be seen that hardly any other medium today tries to create events instead of just writing about them. Of course, you can say that this is not the job of a newspaper. But hearing one of the most important figures in American contemporary history live is definitely a contribution to opinion-forming - and most media still see this as their job. In the not entirely golden times of the former party newspapers, there were many more similar actions. Since the transition to "forum newspapers", no one seems to dare to "spread the word" themselves, as the nice saying goes.
