Barcode in the newsletter

Barcodes in the newsletter: Easily link the online and offline world
It is undisputed that newsletters stimulate interest in buying and encourage purchases, including at the point of sale. However, the offline and online worlds are still rarely directly linked for holistic sales.

In today's newsletter, we'll show you how you can easily connect your newsletter with brick-and-mortar stores. The barcode generator in the E-Marketing Manager makes it possible: integrate voucher and discount codes as barcodes directly into your newsletter.

We will explain to you what requirements are necessary for this and how it is implemented using the following example:

"After successfully registering for the newsletter, all customers should receive a mailing with a €10 voucher to redeem in a branch of their choice. The voucher is displayed in the form of a barcode and contains the value "€10 voucher."

Requirements for the integration of a barcode
Voucher codes: First you need a list of voucher codes that you want to use to convert into barcodes. Alternatively, you can generate a barcode from the customer number, for example.
Recipient assignment: Either you use a uniform code for everyone, as in the example with a generally valid €10 voucher for a branch. Or you assign an individual voucher code to each individual recipient. The assignment can be made using a separate profile field (e.g. "barcode"). To do this, you can add voucher codes to your import file and assign a code to each of your recipients. The file is then imported into the EMM and the individual codes are stored in the individual recipient profiles.
Knowledge of the barcode type of your scanning systems in ivory-coast phone number data brick-and-mortar stores: In order for the barcodes generated in the EMM to be captured by your scanning system in the store, you need to know which type of barcode is to be generated in the EMM (Code128, Code128A, Code128B, Code128C, UCC128, EAN128, EAN13, Bookland, UPC-A, Standard 2 of 5, Interleave 2 of 5, PDF417, Code 39, Codabar or PostNet). The default setting in the EMM is "Code128B".
Implementation in E-Marketing Manager
First, create a mailing in which you want to integrate your barcode. For the example above, you need an action-based mailing that is automatically triggered when a recipient has successfully registered for your newsletter. The barcode is inserted into the mailing using a so-called AGN tag . The tag outputs a URL, which is then inserted as an image using HTML.

There are two options for outputting the barcode:
Variant 1: A fixed value is defined for the barcode, i.e. all recipients receive the same barcode, as in the example above.

Barcode with voucher
Variant 2: An individual value from the database is output for the barcode, i.e. each recipient receives an individual code.

Barcode without
Ideally, the redemption of the voucher in the store will then be reported back to your shop system.
