How do weather stations work?

soil thermometers, which are inserted to a depth of 5, 10, 15 and 20 centimeters. With their help, weather forecasters measure the temperature of the Earth's surface and learn about frost;
instant thermometers that show the current air temperature at each time interval;
minimum and maximum thermometers, with the help of which forecasters learn extreme values.
Some instruments are located inside special booths located at a certain height above the ground. Such booths are called psychrometric and protect the instruments from solar radiation, radiation from the Earth's surface, precipitation, wind and other external influences. Every three hours, meteorologists on duty come to the weather station and record the collected data.



Special attention should be paid to the radiosonde. This is the name of a small device made of foam plastic, inside which there are sensors for measuring temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure and other indicators. It weighs about 300 grams, thanks to which it can be sent to an altitude of 30 kilometers using a simple helium balloon.
