ISO 45001:2018 has entered the publication process, as the Committee for the development of the standard has voted for its approval. In the coming months it will cease to be a draft and become an official international standard.

It's been a long five-year journey for this new standard, which has already entered the publication phase. Many people have already requested the standard thinking that they could already acquire it, however, the publication of the final text is expected in March 2018.

On January 26, the ISO Committee, International Organization line data for Standardization, has advanced the last step for the publication of ISO 45001:2018, approving the standard with 93% consensus , so it has entered the official publication process. The standard will be definitively published in March.

The last phase involved the approval of the Draft FDIS , so it is reasonable to assume that some modifications will occur during the current publication process. However, when it is officially published, the certification will maintain the structure defined in the draft and it is likely that modifications requested in this last period will be incorporated until the final vote on the standard.

What is fully defined is that ISO 45001: 2018 has the same structure as the Management Systems described in other standards based on Annex SL: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27000. In order to facilitate its alignment and compatibility with them, which will make it possible to implement it in any type of organization, regardless of the country of origin and the sector of activity.

The new certification will therefore be integrated with ISO Management Systems standards and its high-level structure will allow for shaping relevant issues in the latest versions of the standards:

Company context : the organization must have a general image including potential business risks that may affect the established objectives.
The role of stakeholders must be incorporated as a fundamental section because it will allow us to complete the image of the organization.
The leadership of the Management in matters of Health and Safety and the Management System will be considered fundamental because its active involvement in OH&S , in addition to developing, implementing and promoting a preventive company culture, will lead to achieving system efficiency.
The management of risks and opportunities in the health and safety management system (OH&S) takes on greater dimension and importance in the case of health and safety.
