In October 2021, Google published two help documents to help websites control what the search engine shows in search results for both titles and link descriptions. Now, it has added some examples of meta descriptions, with good and bad examples of what to do. Check it out!
What not to do in your meta descriptions
create a list of keywords: “Sewing materials, threads, colored pencils, sewing machines, threads, bobbins, needles”;
use the same description for all content: “Local news in Whoville, delivered to your door. Find out what happened today.”;
do not summarize the content: “Eggs are a source of joy in sri lanka whatsapp data everyone’s life. When I was a child, I remember collecting eggs from the chicken coop and bringing them into the kitchen. Those were the days.”;
very short meta-description: “Mechanical pencil“.
Best practices when writing your meta descriptions
explain what the store sells, specifying details such as hours of operation and location: “Get everything you need to sew your next outfit. Open Monday through Friday from 8pm to 5pm, located in the Fashion District.”
use a specific piece of content: “Disrupting the small town of Whoville, a local elderly man steals everyone’s presents the night before an important event. Stay tuned for live updates on the matter.”
sum up the entire content: “Learn how to cook eggs with this comprehensive guide in 1 hour or less. We cover all methods including: super easy, sunny side up, hard boiled, and poached.”
use very detailed descriptions: “Self-sharpening mechanical pencil that automatically corrects your handwriting. Includes 2B auto-refill lead. Available in Vintage Pink and Schoolbus Yellow. Order 50+ pencils and get free shipping.”
