Bluesky: an alternative to X (Twitter)

How to register on Bluesky? What does this new social network offer? All this and more.
For a few years now, many developers have been working on platforms that work in a similar way to Twitter, now X. There are proposals of all kinds, from Mastodon to Threads , with different imprints. In this post we will analyze Bluesky, the social network promoted by Jack Dorsey , co-founder and former CEO of Twitter: what it offers, how it works, how to access it and why it is one of the best alternatives to X .
What is Bluesky?
It is a microblogging social network , like Twitter (now X), where you can connect with people and post short text messages. You can see other people's posts and your own, comment, quote, like and share the content. It works the same as other microblogging social networks: you can follow other users, post images, it has a chronological feed and a chat to talk to other users.
This social network will be based on an open protocol (meaning that the code that cameroon phone number organizes its structure can be appropriated by users) that is original to Jack Dorsey's team, in order to be able to edit everything from the feed, groups (as instances ) and even the algorithms. And, although it is a decentralized social network - this means that people will be able to create their own instances (spaces designed by users on the main structure) - it differs from Mastodon for a few reasons: one of the main ones is that its users will not be part of the ActivityPub Fediverse .
AT Protocol and its difference with other networks
AT Protocol is the name of Bluesky's engine. It is a code that integrates all the new trends in social networks to create a federated, agile and simple social network.
Unlike similar systems, this one has some unique points to highlight:
Account portability: With the AT Protocol, users own their own profiles. This means that data is transferred between social networks when you start using a new one. “Corporations,” says the Bluesky team, “do not own a person’s identity.”
Algorithm Choice: This protocol uses an open algorithm mode that users can access and control to modify their own experience. These systems dictate what we see and what we can access, which is why Bluesky proposes manipulating the algorithms to start trusting the virtual space.
Interoperation: “The world needs a diverse market of connected services to ensure healthy competition,” they explain, which is why the AT Protocol includes Lexicon, a framework to help solve the challenges of intercoordination on the web.
Performance: Another goal of this project was to create a medium in which performance is very good and, its importance, elemental in development. This is a platform that sees the speed of sending and receiving information as a central priority.
