This year, YouTube continues to lose users (-0.91%), going from 2,514 to 2,491 million, but it still maintains its second position. Between 2022 and 2023, it had already lost 1.87% of users.
Instagram still has 2 billion users
Despite CEO Adam Mosseri's efforts to boost growth, Instagram remains stuck at the 2 billion user mark. Its bet on video to take on TikTok is not being as effective as expected, so far.
WhatsApp reaches 2 billion users
WhatsApp already has 2 billion users worldwide, reinforcing its image as the leading international messaging app. After the problems that Telegram is experiencing in different parts of the world, it seems difficult for WhatsApp to be replaced in the short term. Its next big challenge: establishing itself as an effective channel for online sales.
Is TikTok's growth credible?
Since its inception, TikTok has shown remarkable growth, and azerbaijan number data this year the Chinese-born social network is seeing a new surge in the number of users, with a staggering (and spectacular) 48.62% more users than in 2023. It ranks fifth in the chart, thus surpassing other networks with a strong presence in specific geographic areas such as Wechat (a Chinese video social network, similar to YouTube), which is highly prevalent in Asia.
In any case, these spectacular TikTok figures must be questioned, as explained by We Are Social: “We see inconsistent trends in the data published in the advertising tools of several social platforms (…) Let us be careful when analyzing trends in social media audience data, especially for X (Twitter) and TikTok. We have changed the way we collect data for TikTok, so our most recent global figures are not comparable with previous reports. However, the good news is that the data we can now report covers many more countries . ”
Other Chinese platforms, such as Douyin, Sina Weibo , QQ and Kuaishou, also appear in the ranking, but have been pushed down to less prominent positions compared to the previous report.
As for Elon Musk's social network, despite all the controversies that X (formerly Twitter) faced in 2023, it managed to record an increase of 11.33%, bringing it to 619 million users .
