Deleting or Archiving Conversations

Sometimes, a chat has run its course and needs to be archived or deleted. Telegram lets you do this effortlessly!
To archive a conversation, simply long-press on the chat in your list and select the “Archive” option. The chat will vanish into the archives, unless you have notifications enabled, in which case, you might just find it again (like that annoying ex who keeps texting).
On the other hand, if you decide to go cold turkey and delete a conversation, just select “Delete” after long-pressing the chat. However, be careful—once deleted, chat history is gone for good!
## Best Practices for Handling Telegram Data
### Keeping Your Data Secure
Security is paramount in today’s digital landscape. Thankfully, Telegram offers a telegram data plethora of security features to keep your chats under wraps. From two-factor authentication to secret chats, you have multiple layers of protection at your fingertips.
To enable two-factor authentication, head to “Settings,” then “Privacy and Security.” This ensures that even if someone knows your password, they won’t access your account without the second factor.
### Regular Data Backups
If you want to live carefree and sleep easy at night, regular data backups are your best friend. While Telegram stores data on the cloud, making it accessible across devices, it’s still wise to back up vital conversations, especially if you’re prone to tech hiccups (like that time you dropped your phone in the pool).
Consider using the export feature mentioned earlier for crucial chats. Once you’ve backed them up, you can breathe a little easier, knowing that your valuable memes won’t disappear without a trace.
