Security Features
These settings protect your account from unauthorized access.


Description: Adds an extra layer of security. Beyond the SMS code sent to your phone number, you set a password that is required to log in on new devices or make significant account changes. You can also set a recovery email.
Implication: Highly recommended. Even if someone gains access to your SIM card, they cannot log into your Telegram account without this password.
Passcode Lock:

Description: A PIN or password you set to lock the Telegram app itself on your telegram data device. Can be combined with biometric authentication (fingerprint, face ID).

Implication: Protects your chats from anyone with physical access to your unlocked phone.
Active Sessions:

Description: Shows all devices and web browsers where your Telegram account is currently logged in.
Management: You can terminate any suspicious or old sessions remotely.
Implication: Regularly checking active sessions helps ensure no unauthorized access to your account.
Account Auto-Deletion ("If away for"):

Description: Allows you to set a period of inactivity (e.g., 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year) after which your account will automatically delete itself and all its data if you don't log in.
Implication: A safety net to remove your digital footprint if you stop using Telegram or lose access to your account permanently.
