Using AI-generated content? Google says it's time to stop

Creating content using AI-powered writing tools is against Google's webmaster guidelines, and Google's team is against such content.

New services are popping up that claim to improve SEO while being more affordable than hiring a writer. But Google may flag this auto-generated content as violating its webmaster guidelines.

And while content writing algorithms have improved significantly in recent years, so too has Google's AI, which can detect when content is meaningless and is simply using keywords. This isn't the first time Google has addressed this issue. In fact, claims about automatically generated content date back to 2010, when Google said that using automatic translation services would be considered spam due to violations of its webmaster guidelines.

Google's guidelines specifically state the following when it comes to AI-generated content.

Automatically generated content (also called “auto-generated” content) is content that has been generated programmatically.
