The essence of the Agile approach

Agile is a set of flexible project management methodologies that rely on a team's willingness to adjust goals, objectives, and priorities as the project progresses.
Waterfall and Agile
To better understand the principles of Agile, you can compare them with the opposite approach - the Waterfall model. In this model, the team first develops a detailed technical task, which clearly states what product should be created and how. This task is agreed upon with the customer, after which the work is carried out strictly according to the plan. As a result, the finished product is provided to the customer.
Agile is fundamentally different from Waterfall, where changes are possible only at the beginning of the project. In Agile, changes are allowed even in the middle of development.
