Shazam & augmented reality
One of the brands that really surprised me is Shazam. I know this app mainly as a handy tool to find out the artist and title of a song. But Shazam does much more! I got talking to Greg Glenday , chief revenue officer at Shazam.
This app has collected a lot of data in recent years (with 150 million active users per month). A smart innovation is the camera addition of Shazam. This has added many different possibilities. For example, this function can be used to scan album covers and posters. The right music will then immediately appear in the app.
Augmented reality with Shazam
Last year, Shazam started with augmented reality. For example, you can now scan special beer mats with the app. This function enables fun collaborations, for example with Bombay and Corona.
With this camera function, many possibilities can be imagined. Think of scanning tickets, where a hologram of the artist welcoming you appears on your screen. Or imagine: 1 in 1000 is invited by the artist for a meet & greet.

Popular songs
Using data, Shazam can see exactly which artists and songs are going to be popular. This is often used for advertising campaigns, because many brands want to use music with potential, songs that are not yet mainstream popular.
Focus more on the consumer
What will happen in 2018? Glenday indicates that he switzerland whatsapp number wants to focus more on the consumer. With machine learning, the Shazam app and the algorithm are getting smarter. Music can be recognized faster based on what you like. Also, music no longer has to go through the entire database, but is filtered based on your preferences.
Another future idea is to be able to scan bars and clubs with the camera, so that you know immediately what kind of music is played there. For example, is it apres ski music, hip hop or techno?
Focus on the consumer
At Dreamforce there were many different keynotes and sessions, but what is especially clear in all sessions and examples is: focus on the consumer! Mobile has become increasingly important, but now it really applies: 'mobile first'. Make sure your mobile app or site is focused on a good user experience, personalize and provide a cross-device experience.
