In SEO, it is essential to know which keywords will attract the greatest (and best) number of visits to our site. To find out, it is necessary to carry out a prior study known as Keyword Hunting or Keyword Research.
A few days ago I was a speaker at a new 'We Are Sharing' event, which we hold monthly at We Are Marketing with the aim of sharing knowledge among colleagues from the different departments that make up the agency.
As SEO and PPC manager, I focused my presentation on the importance of good keyword hunting in a content strategy. Here are the slides from my presentation that you can consult whenever you want. But keep reading! In this article you will find a very complete summary.
Keyword Hunting for Content from We Are Marketing
Choosing a few keywords at random is not enough to position a website and attract the greatest (and best) traffic possible. It is essential to carry out a prior study called Keyword hunting or Keyword Research.
Keyword hunting is a fundamental step in SEO that seeks to find out how people search on the Internet. There are multiple tools that can help us with this, selecting the most appropriate words for our SEO strategy. These words are what we call key words or keywords: those words that we use to make queries on Google or any other search engine and find what we are looking for.
There are different factors that determine a Keyword hunting study:
Target audience: depending on the type of audience we want turkey phone number data to address, they will search in one way or another, therefore it is very important to identify our audience as a first step.
Competition : let’s imagine that we have an online store where we sell tablets. The keyword “ipad” would not be a good choice, not only because of how broad the search is, but also because of the competition it has and because with that keyword we cannot know what the search intention is: are they looking for a manual? opinions? applications? On the other hand, the keyword “buy ipad air 2” is more focused on our market, so we will have less competition and, therefore, it will be of higher quality.
Long Tail : It is also important to know who we are going to compete against with the chosen keywords. This is where the Long Tail concept comes into play. If we select a very competitive keyword with many searches, it will be very difficult for us to get many of those visits. However, with the Long Tail strategy we will have fewer visits but we will get a larger slice of the pie and our sales or objectives will increase.
Buyer persona : A buyer persona is a semi-fictional representation of our ideal client built from their demographic information, psychological profile and social media behavior, their behavior, needs and motivations. Essentially, it consists of giving them a name and a series of characteristics to better connect with the client and understand what they need from us to get them to convert.
TOFU, MOFU, BOFU : the user or visitor goes through different phases before completing the purchasing process and becoming a final consumer.
