Significant decline in comment engagementWhen we were using Disqus, some readers complained that it made guest comments difficult. Since Disqus was widely used on several top websites, we didn't pay much attention to these complaints at first.

However, over time, comment engagement dropped significantly. After we disabled Disqus, we saw our users start leaving more comments . Shortly after the change, we noticed our comments increase by 304%.

interface for moderation

When we first moved to Disqus, we were initially pretty excited about the new comment moderation interface , but the more we used it, the less our editors liked it.

Comments are very resource intensive. If you have a lot of comments on a post, it will take a long time to load.

When many users leave comments at the same list of bahamas cell phone number time, it also affects your server load. The advantage of using a third-party commenting system like Disqus is that you can take that server load off your system and pass it on to the third-party provider.

Even if a malicious user attacks your website, it will not affect your server as it has to pass through Disqus first. However, please note that this only applies if you have disabled Comment Sync.

redundancy

The best thing about Disqus was that the comments were stored in a third-party database, which is very helpful in dealing with redundancy. We definitely miss that.

This means that if you fail over, you can simply disable comments until your main servers are back up. While this is not ideal, it is the easiest option you have.
