We are in the middle of a discussion about third-party data. We have also seen significant growth in Digital Marketing during the pandemic. How do you see the growth of Content Marketing during this period?
Last year, when we analyzed data from our annual Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends survey , it was abundantly clear that businesses realized the power of Content Marketing during the pandemic.
That led to higher budgets for 2021 and 2022, with investments expected in video, events (digital, in-person and hybrid), owned and paid media.

At the SXSW Conference, we saw a predominance of Web 3.0, the metaverse and NFTs. At events like the Coachella Festival , we also saw virtual objects and other technologies. Meta is investing heavily in the metaverse . However, some experts, like former Google CEO Eric Schmidt , are skeptical about the popularity of these technologies in the near future. Thinking about Content (and Digital) Marketing, do you think these topics have become overly important or are they real opportunities for brands?
Some marketers may feel that the next shiny new object will be overhyped. For others, it is something worth seriously considering.
Personally, I think it's worth learning about emerging technologies, whether or not they're relevant to your current strategy. But as one of our CMWorld speakers advised: don't get distracted by it.
I suggest taking a look at what many of our speakers have to say. The fact is that no one wants to be left behind on an important trend, but we don't want to waste precious time either.
