Meta announced a series of changes affecting European users who choose to pay for an ad-free experience on Facebook and Instagram. From now on, those who choose to subscribe to enjoy social networks without seeing ads will lose the right to run their own ads and participate in various advertising features on these social networks.

This new policy has caused confusion among users, as it limits the features to those who are willing to pay for a better service. The company explained that the measure is necessary if it wants to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What are the new Meta restrictions?
If you subscribe to Instagram and Facebook ad-free, you will no longer be able to do the following:

Post ads and promote posts on an Instagram/Facebook account (this includes marketplace posts).
Post ads on a Facebook page if it is linked to an Instagram account with a subscription.
Participate in collaboration ads on Instagram or Facebook.
Monetize your account with reels and instream ads.
If any of these types of ads are active when you subscribe, they will be disabled for the duration of your subscription.
