Keeping the environment neutral and polite is essential for the meeting to go as smoothly as possible, although it is often necessary to ignore some comments or “look the other way” to get around unpleasant situations, highlights Marcella.
The RIG professional's tip for these moments is to never be without the support of another employee on your team. "Being able to count on the presence of more people from your company helps to keep the meeting more formal and focused on the issues that need to be addressed," according to the consultant. "And, if you happen to feel insecure about being more assertive on a subject, remember that parliamentarians were appointed to the positions they hold to provide a service to society; there is no need to keep politicians on a pedestal," Marcella points out.
