A Deep Dive into Editorial Calendars – Schedule Articles 6 Weeks Ahead
We are able to achieve editorial consistency and regularity because we are now committed to always scheduling our calendar at least six weeks in advance.
Before that, we were usually two to three weeks ahead at any given time, meaning that in the first week we commissioned articles to be published in the second or third week, but no more.
Considering the time it takes writers to write articles and our ecuador mobile database t design team to create artwork, a 23 week lead time schedule often puts us in the stressful situation of having to publish articles a few days before or the day they publish, and if we need to push back an incomplete article, we rarely have a backup ready to replace it.
After some big team effort, we are now commissioning 6 to 10 new articles per week, and we work together to ensure our six-week advance schedule is maintained. Again, this is not rocket science in theory, but takes some collaborative planning and hard work to execute in practice.
