Does the citizen really come first?

Post by Arzina3225 »

In this department, (new) functions are created in which the trends are also better implemented. After all, new roles are created for the government within this department. Knowledge is gathered about hypertargeting, digitalization (partly) gets a place and the use of (relevant) data becomes central in a smart and responsible way. A major challenge for the government in 2018!

The most important question for 2018 remains: does the citizen really come first? Does the government really want to work with the city and the neighbourhood? My research shows that the government still does not know what to do with the 'citizen'. Citizen participation is important, but is also seen as very difficult by many local governments. The government's most important challenge for 2018 is therefore to be there at the right time and to really help. So put the citizen first!

And of course this…
The five trends described are, in my opinion, important challenges that the (local) government will face in 2018. Of course, there are many more trends that will play a role. Which ones?

A new privacy law
Of course, when using data, we must take into australia whatsapp number list account the new privacy law that will come into effect in 2018, which already identifies risks associated with the use of data and technology by the government.

We're going live!
Video content is extremely important and (semi) live video will only grow in 2018. And what is more fun than vlogging? Kirsten Jassies already gave an interesting view on this in the article ' vlogging staff: the content trend of 2018 '. She also notes that quality is difficult to assess. In 2017, the mayor of Almere started vlogging and received a lot of comments about it. But who knows what the mayor of a large city does? Vlogging offers opportunities for the government to show what you do and why. Transparency and openness. And look for some tips .

Fake news and fact checking
The Public and Communications Service (DPC) of the Central Government concludes in its trend report 'everyone in action' that although trust in institutions such as the government is decreasing, trust in newspapers and television is decreasing even more. This is partly due to (the attention for) fake news. That seems like good news (if it is true ;-)), but in 2018 it puts even more pressure on the government to properly interpret and check the information it uses.
