How the unit appeared
A hundredth was not always used to calculate area. Before numbers in saudi arabia the 1917 revolution, it was replaced by “tithe”, which is equal to 1.09 hectares according to the modern system of measures. It was believed that one dessiatine could be used to get ten haystacks.
