The basic component of the ITS is the Regional Road Safety Center, which has been successfully operating since 2013. It is a unified system for monitoring, collecting and processing information on these types of violations. The system covers almost the entire region, with new photo and video recording systems being put into operation every year. The Center actively cooperates with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, including in terms of holding violators accountable who evade paying fines. "Every year we see an increase in the positive effect of using projection pedestrian crossings on the region's roads. Today, the Kaluga Region ranks second among Russian regions in terms of the number of projection crossings. Only the Moscow Region is ahead. There are already 148 projection crossings operating on the region's roads. According to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate statistics, not a single accident or casualty was recorded at such intersections at night last year," said Alexander Shpirenko.

This year, intelligent projection pedestrian crossings will appear in the region. The new zebra crossings will be equipped with motion sensors and protected from false alarms. The projection crossings used on the region's roads are manufactured at local enterprises. This significantly reduces logistics and maintenance costs.
