URL is short for Uniform Resource Locator. It is a web address that takes you to a specific page or file on a website.

A domain name alone is used to locate a specific website. If you type a domain name alone (e.g. wpbeginner.com) into your browser, it will be con to the homepage of the website associated with that domain name.

Every page or file you see on the Internet is associated with a URL. For example, you can see the URL for that page in the address bar at the top of your browser.
